In 1991, SEO was born with the born of the first website. Firstly there was only one website but as soon as many websites were created related to different niches.

Though Google is the most popular search engine, Yahoo was way before introduced to the market. But the first search engine was BackRub that was begun in 1996 by larry Page and Sergey Brin- Ph.D. students at Stanford University.
In fact, BackRub was the origin of Google Itself!
In the initial period, optimizing search engines was not much hard. The algorithm of the search engines was way simpler in the previous century. It consisted of only a few required factors to rank. But as time passed, it is becoming difficult because plenty of factors need to be optimized to rank your website on search engines.
The most important element is content. Quality content is the fuel of the website. Quality content with relevancy is a key factor for Google to rank a website.
